Aldi, well established in Germany, opened its first store in the UK in 1990. It is now the United Kingdoms 4th largest supermarket chain and listed The Times Top 100 Graduate employers.

Aldi plans to invest £1bn in the UK with the continued expansion of 1200 stores by 2025 to support the British shopper.

We have found that Aldi’s reputation for discounted and reduce cost for each customer is founded on exacting requirements, attention to detail and extremely high standards. Poor quality is not an option.

• Rodent control, we placed snap traps to key focus areas on site such as waste area and replenishment picking aisles to capture active rodents and prevent ingress of new rodents.
• Pest proofing we utilised weldmesh to areas around the RDC to prevent ingress from pests
• Bird control we hung trapping cages to capture magpies and also shot them when trapping was not an available option, this was to protect public health and prevent food damages or contamination.

In 2020 Via Trium were given the opportunity to supply and support a bespoke high quality, pest control service that would improve standards, exceed expectations, constantly deliver, and continually develop.

To assess the specific requirements & support service needs of Aldi and produce a solution to:

• Improve and expand the service offering,
• Monitor and survey to provide the best solution,
• Create an operation and environment of transparency and accountability.
• Evolve the support team to be able to adapt and become an integral part of the Aldi team.
• Pest management services that stop infestations at the source.

The Via Trium assessment process identified an immediate need to:

Unify the communication between the pest technicians and maintenance teams.

While working in an efficient and effective environment, our purpose is to ensure that the facility remains pest free throughout the RDC and provide a safe and pleasant workplace.

Listen to the specific needs of Aldi and support there additional pest control requirements by completing regular surveys, monitoring, cascading important information and continuous communication with the customer.

Project Specifics

• Improve environmental impact with our recycled bait stations.
• Develop an effective CIWM lead trained waste segregation management team.
• Provide BPCA & ROSPA certified infection control operatives.
